So far, the first day of school was pretty hectic. Already, 2 assignments and an essay on the future of modern technology. There won't be any time for fun if you already have so much on the first day. And now that lunch was next, it was best you get started immediately.
You made your way to the cafeteria and in the hallways you heard whispers and conversations of a similar topic. What's all the hub-bub about?
"Who will you take?"
"Oh yeah, her, she's hot."
"Hope he'll ask me to go."
"I asked her like 50 times!"
"I think I'm gonna wear those shoes."
Funny, everyone had the same thing in mind, though you didn't know what they were even talking about. But whatever, you had to get lunch and start your work immediately.
In the large lunchroom lined with folded tables occupied by groups of friends, cliques, and yeah, losers, you found yourself unable to find a table for yourself, so you continued walking around, until you heard your name being called.
"Yo, _______!" It was Alfred. "Over here!" He flailed his hands and pointed to a seat in front of him. You smiled and scurried your way to his table, lunch and books in hand.
"Hey Al, haven't seen you since Chem." you put your books down and unpacked your turkey sandwich lunch and noticed Arthur sitting besides Alfred. "Well, hi, Arthur."
Though he was too busy talking to himself and giggling, typical.
"Ignore, him, dude."
"Ahh, he's having one of those...moments?"
"Dude, I don't even know."
"No bloody way!" Arthur blurted out before packing his belongings. "Sorry chaps, but I must get going before Tinkerbell gets too far. Cheerio." And with that, he left the room, leaving you and Alfred dumbfounded.
"Whatever that was..." you chuckled. Alfred just scoffed and took a large bite of his large angus burger.
As you chewed and worked at the same time, you saw a poster from the corner of your eyes and sprang up a bit.
- Seniors Social!
Come join us on the 11th of September at 7PM- Midnight in the main ballroom.
to kick off the school year right!
"Uh, Al?" you said, rather quietly.
"Mhmfgh?" he muffled with his mouth full.
"We have a social gathering during the beginning of the year?" he swallowed.
"Yeah; one at the beginning, one at the end."
"I see..." you resumed your work.
There was a long silence between you two.
"Uh,"-he coughed slightly-" people usually bring like...dates and stuff." his face turned pink-kissed and you looked up, the same pink on your cheeks.
"That's cute," you smiled. "Are you planning on taking someone?"
He put down his lunch and reeled his face closer to yours and smiled his signature cocky smile while whispering.
"I'm planning too."
And before he could even go on, the bell rang with a loud Rrrrrriiiinnnnnnnnnnngg.
"Oh Al, class is starting. Catch ya later after school. Bye~!" You grabbed your things and left Alfred once again.
My second chance, he thought, missed.
